UNKNOWN is a limited edition product and book release COMUNE that pays tribute in admiration of character and testimony bringing to life the true stories and experiences of those whom have defied odds and influenced many.

The first release of theUNKNOWN pays respect to Jose Gonzalez, motorcycle enthusiast, Orange County/Long Beach local and a long time friend to COMUNE founder, Frank Delgadillo. With a special limited edition release of American Made denim designed by Jose and book written by Jose's close friend, well-known motorcycle journalist, Nelson Kanno.

"As a kid, I always looked up to Jose. I would see him skateboarding around the Orange Circle in Old Towne Orange and at first was intimidated to introduce myself. Jose had the ability to command respect with his peers and was a natural leader at an early age. No one would dare cross his path, but he was always very respectful towards the younger generation. He was repeatedly hanging out at the coolest spots across town, and I watched Jose's interest and passion for motorcycle and car culture transform and set forth into this Mexican Rockabilly trend that the neighborhood kids embraced. He seemed to start this whole new craze and movement blending Mexican street culture with Greaser.

Around 2002, my longtime friend, Nelson Kanno formally introduced me to Jose around the time I was having my first custom motorcycle built by Chica. Jose was always in-the-know and had gained so much respect in the industry around his collection of bikes and influence in motorcycle culture. From there we continued to stay in contact (even while he was a 1%er). In fact, I can recall one time on a ride to Laughlin a trailer hauling bikes clipped me, and I went down. There I am in the ambulance, and I get a call from Jose (word spread fast) asking me if I needed help. That he could find the guy for me if I wanted. Good 'ole Jose was always there for you.

Jose is someone whom I have always thought should have his story told, and if I ever had an opportunity to do so, it is a project that I would want to be involved with. He is such an interesting, solid guy with a lifetime of stories to be shared and respect to be had for the influence he has had on so many."

- Frank Delgadillo, Founder COMUNE

We wanted to design a pair of jeans for Jose that would reflect his life. The intial idea was to use a premium selvage denim, but after a lot of thought we realized that falling into that niche trend just wouldn't do justice to Jose's name. Jose would never spend $250-300 on a pair of jeans just because they were selvage denim. We needed something that represented what he stood for. The result is a pair of domestically made denim, crafted and sewn just 30 minutes from where Jose currently lives. These raw indigo jeans are tough enough for Jose, yet still have all the details and great fit of COMUNE denim. The full grain leather patch and pocket bag label describing the story of theUnknown, and a bartacked cuff detail are just a few details. Look for these jeans at specialty denim stores worldwide this February.
